  10. Do you think it’s beneficial to pay more and send your child to a private preschool, or did you opt for a ‘regular’ preschool (hence half the cost)?

I’m torn at the moment. I like all 3 of my choices, but the price of the Montessori preschool keeps bringing me back. I know that sounds nuts, but the $$$ involved makes me think it *has* to be that much better. Anyone have any experience with this?

  14. I JUST, as in JUST NOW, wrote this chapter, and I’m so excited! I’m just not sure of one thing: does it sounds right? I mean, I start out talking about something, then I fade into their backgrounds. Does it transition smoothly to you, or is it too fast-paced?

Yes, I know, I am obcessive over my own story, thank you very much! I just want to make every little aspect of it absolutely PERFECT because my writing is OCD like that. Thank you for reading/answering/commenting/whatever-you-like-to-call-it!

Daxter sat on his bed for awhile, looking over the strands of hair that he held between his fingers. The tips of them were golden and light, and when the sun caught them just right, they glistened. However, their roots were dark, unwelcoming and dry. His fingers snapped open and he watched them flutter to the floor in a clump, landing gently beside a dust bunny.

The tiny room was taught with tension, streams of it flowing from Daxter. His hands would pick up the telephone and begin to dial Hallie’s or Carter’s phone number, but it felt like even they didn’t want anything to do with him. He hadn’t talked to them for hours. The silence was killing him. Silence… speaking of silence…

Carter wasn’t normally rude or awkward like he was earlier, just quiet. Standing in the corner with his arms folded was considered normal, while his sudden urge to leave was not. Usually he would sit for hours in Daxter’s bedroom alone with him or with Hallie there too, where he could escape his own tragic family. Eight children, sharing two bedrooms. He was often negelcted, being the second oldest in his family. He didn’t have a bedroom, or much money. He and his brothers and sisters stole many things from their parents, especailly money. Carter often slept in the basement of his house filled with spiders and fungi seeping in the cracks, or sprawled out on the couch in the living room with no blankets or pillow. Daxter’s house was perfectly silent most of the time, and Carter preferred to stay there instead.

    Daxter didn’t blame him.

If he’d had seven brothers and sisters, he probably would’ve turned like Carter, too. Hallie, however, doesn’t speak much about life at home. She’s mentioned her father occasionally, but neither Carter nor Daxter have ever seen her house. There are rumors that Hallie is so poor that she loathes anyone who sees her house, while others say that she’s so wealthy she feels embarrassed to stand so high compared to the rest of them. You could say she’s less open about things than Carter, which is really saying something.

She dresses averagely, and doesn’t look poor. And while she doesn’t look wealthy and elegant, she seems ordinary. Hallie is the only one that will ever truly know her own lifestyle. No one knows why she wants to keep it that way, it’s just in her nature to be a tiny bit odd, as it makes others curious about her, including Daxter; but the curiousity that she leaves others in her place is what makes her unique, different from other girls that Daxter knows.

Daxter, on the other hand, is nothing like either of them. He doesn’t particularly like talking about his background, but he will mention it now and then. He gets angered when people mistake Karen, who looks the least bit like him, for his mother. After all, Daxter never knew his real mother or father. Karen doesn’t like to talk about his parents. He doubts she even truly knows anything about them.

Together, the three of them make an awkward trio. The quiet, misunderstood one; the sweet, mysterious one; and the good friend– Daxter snapped out of his daydream as the phone rang beside his head. He twisted in his bed and grabbed the phone, lifting it to his ear,

“Hello?” he answered quietly, expecting to hear Carter’s or Hallie’s voice from the other end.

“Hey,” Carter’s voice said through the other end of the line. Daxter frowned. Although he’d had a feeling it would be Carter, he was hoping it would be Hallie. Hallie, wanting to come back to Daxter’s house and hold her in his arms– he shook the thought away as he realized his mind was wandering off somewhere he didn’t want it to go, “Can I ask you something?”

“Sure, fire away,” Daxter yawned. Carter hesitated for a moment, leaving only the momentary buzz of the background. Daxter snorted and knew he wasn’t at home. The background was far too quiet.

“Can I come over tonight?” he asked slowly, in his usual drawn-out voice. No matter the situation he was in, Carter stayed so emotionless he seemed almost deprived of it. As in: the emotionless state came whether he wanted it to or not. Daxter mumbled to himself about it being a weekday, but grumbled a tiny, “Sure,”

I think I may add more to the end, but I’m not sure. What do you think?

  15. I really liked “Just Listen” and “The Truth About Forever” by Sarah Dessen. It was a CUTE love story. I want to read another book of hers but I want it to be a LOVE story.

Can you tell me the name of a book of hers that you think I would like. Then can you put a summary also. Remember, I would like to read a love story. Her other books don’t seem romantic but I am not sure.

You can also tell me other books you think I might like that AREN’T by Sarah Dessen. (If you put a non-Sarah Dessen book, please include the title, author, and brief summary.

    Thank You!

P.S. Nobody put “Twilight” because I already read it!
